Installation, Configuration and Trouble Shooting of Nortel/Bay Networks Routers Course Agenda
Course Design
This course is written and designed from an independent view, therefore it includes the common pitfalls when installing and maintaining Bay Networks routers.
It does not necessarily cover the topics required to complete the Bay Networks certification program.
Course Structure
The course consists of theory and hands-on sessions to ensure that delegates fully understand the presented material.
Course Aim
To provide delegates with the information to install and maintain Bay Networks routers, avoiding the common time consuming mistakes
Course Objectives
To understand the different router models and their connectivity options
To install and configure a Bay Networks router for:-
- Transparent Bridging
- IP routing
- SNMP Management and traps
To obtain router statistics to enhance troubleshooting techniques
To execute software upgrades
Carry out basic commands using the command line TI interface. This useful interface is expanded upon during the troubleshooting course.
Target Audience
This course is designed for engineers, pre-sales, operators and network managers who require an understanding of the Bay Networks router products.
Pre-requisites
Delegates must have a good working knowledge of the theory behind bridging, routing and the TCP/IP protocol suite. These subjects will not be covered on this course.
Class Size
Six delegates maximum.

Using TFTP for file transfer
Building basic binary images (ACE.OUT & BOOT.EXE etc)
Booting and resetting a Router
Using the PING option
Upgrading the router software
Exercise
Using knowledge gained previously in the course, delegates will construct and configure a network from the ground up, with only a network diagram, the training manual and their notes for assistance.
Router statistics will then be interrogated to ensure that the network is functioning fully. This will complete the exercise.
